Hi, Taylor. I want to thank you for reading this and start by saying that my English writing skills are not the strongest (it´s not my native language, and I haven´t written in English very much in recent years). I also apologize for the length of this post, but these are complicated problems with not so simple solutions (mostly because I´m attempting to do things differently; time as proven that, regarding these issues, it´s the only way to achieve better results)because the objective is to help people who live in extreme poverty and help everyone live better (I know how difficult it can be to achieve meaningful change, but it's also important to remember that for every good thing that exists, there was a moment when it was just somebody's beautiful dream). I've dedicated a significant amount of time and thought to these issues, and I can honestly tell you that there is not a miraculous solution, but I firmly believe that by making some meaningful changes on the work that is being done to help (which is very important work considering that is saving lives everyday, something that is often overlooked because, unfortunately, what´s negative tends to receive more attention) we can contribute to solve the bigger issues that are making life so difficult for so many human beings around the world. As mentioned in my Instagram DM, your generosity, honesty, and willingness to stand up for your beliefs, even if it means choosing a more challenging path, are some of the main reasons why you are the first person to whom I´m offering this project, but it´s important to mention that your writing and creativity (considering your music and directing work, but also the more conceptional, artistic and promotional work – your brand is in excellent shape, and this happens also because a lot of hard work has been well done by you and your team) where also decisive because they can contribute to how memorable this project can be and how many people it can help.
I recently finished writing a novel. It´s a true love story; the story of a couple who willingly accepts the responsibility of creating a better future for those less fortunate. This choice leads them to confront a particularly challenging set of obstacles, but, throughout their journey, they never lose sight of the profound importance of their love. It´s also a book that talk´s about the importance of democracy and, more so, about building a more equal world by helping developing countries. In the book there is proposal that can help these countries (in addition to the help that it´s already given by international organizations and bilateral aid between countries) by establishing development partnerships between developed and developing countries (in the book I go into more detail about how this would work, what changes could be made, what type of help could be given, etc, etc - although I'm mentioning this, I want to say that it is discussed briefly in the middle of the book, and in a balanced way that fits the narrative, because I think it's important to focus on the storytelling). I don´t think that most countries will adopt this proposal, but if some countries or groups of citizens, with the assistance of Non Governmental Organizations, would just do a version of it, this would have a direct impact on improving people's lives. Also, a point I emphasize in the book is the importance of persistently seeking solutions to help those living in poverty, rather than viewing it solely as an insurmountable problem (I´m not gonna mention specific numbers, as there are various variables to consider, and the research on this issue is not as advanced or extensive as one might expect given its seriousness, but the notion that ending extreme poverty is impossible is simply not true). The narrative can also serve to sensitize people to the harsh living conditions of those who are suffering so much (I think this can happen, and have a positive impact, but I want to stress that this a book about human relations, equality and hope, not about poverty). I wrote relatively small (1,5 pages in A4 format) resume of the book, but didn´t put it in this post to keep the story as secret as possible. I can show it to you (if we talk over Zoom, Skype or similar), as well as a few short chapters (this would be a quick read because it´s only 4 pages in A4 – the chapters in the book are short because it was the best option to make the book more interesting and easier to read) of the book I translated (I´m not a professional translator, and obviously, I write much better in Portuguese than in English, but I believe the translation is good enough for you to decide whether you like my writing and my ability to use creativity to construct a world that surprises and inspires the reader; I believe it's important to highlight that the translation of those chapters exhibits a higher level of English writing proficiency than this post, because, for every reason possible, the book is more important; I would have liked to invest time in enhancing the writing quality of this post, but I´ve been dealing with several health issues and a lot of people need help so I wanted to try and contact you as soon as possible – I still worked hard to at least try to make sure the ideas on this are reasonably explained, but I´m aware that are parts that should be better written).
After writing the book, I started to think about how to make sure the story/ideas in it get the attention they deserve and be able to have the economic resources that allow me to develop two projects that contribute to helping people who are living in extreme poverty and other people who are suffering.
So, I came up with a solution. If I could get someone important to publish the book in their name that would be advantageous in every way. This would also allow for the story to become widely known, for the values guiding the main characters throughout the book to inspire people and heighten their sensitivity to issues that can improve our world. It will also help everyone understand that extreme poverty is a problem that can be solved and get people thinking about alternative ways to solve it. I know that you might not feel comfortable publishing something in your name that was not entirely written by you, but I ask you to please consider the following: – your creativity and writing skills/knowledge would definitely improve the book (I´m confident that the story is very good – mostly because I´m a big believer in continuing to improve, in art, life, etc, I worked hard to understand what are the most important elements of good literature writing, and also worked on my storytelling skills, studying mostly movies and series because, in my opinion, some of the best storytelling happens there – but I have no doubt that you can make it better; usually writers are very reluctant to changes, but I´m not like that, my priorities are for the last version of the book to be the best and to help as many people as I can); – it will probably be necessary to work a little on the English version because, even if the translation is done well (I live in Portugal; the book is in Portuguese), the "power" of words is different in different languages, and it´s important to have a strong inspirational content in many parts of the book – something that happens in the Portuguese version – and, for that, choosing the right ideas and words is crucial, something in which you can give a decisive contribution (I know that you are very busy, so I´m fine with working on this with someone else and you just revise and enhance the work that was done); – people know about ghostwriters (and they are increasingly more common in fiction) and, in my opinion, we should say that you helped write it and helped make it better (because I have no doubt that you will) and you decided to publish it in your name (like the ghostwriter requested) because you believe in the values (solidarity, creativity, equality, democracy, self sacrifice) that inspire and are portrayed in the book, on the impact it can have in helping others, and how art and creativity can contribute to a better world (the specifics of what you wanna say is up to you and your team, I´m perfectly fine with my name being out of it, I´m doing this for other reasons – there are around 700 million people living in extreme poverty, I think I can give a meaningful contribution to help them, I will elaborate on this below; also, I would like to say that given the quality of the story, your contribution, your brand, and other elements, the book would be immensely successful and I think you would be giving an extraordinary example to the world – for that reason, this project would have long-term brand benefits (I write about why this would be adequate and beneficial to your brand later in this post). However, if for any reason, the book does not achieve the expected level of success in terms of sales, or if you receive excessive criticism for reasons related to this project that are impossible to predict, I can take the blame for it. Nobody (sane) likes to get publicly criticized, but I´m doing this project so I can have the resources to really help people, and that, to me, is what matters most (if you want, we can incorporate this commitment into a written agreement in any form that you and your team find suitable; we should simply say that I´m not allowed to talk about the project after the book is published, ensuring that everything you need to say or do to protect your brand will be uncontested/undisputed; I don´t anticipate anything going wrong, in fact, as I´ve mentioned before, I predict that this will be beneficial to your brand, but I want you and your team to be 100% sure that it´s not possible for this project to harm your brand in any way).
One other reason why you are the right person for this project is that, someday, this could be a great movie. I understand the challenges associated with adapting a book into a movie, and it's a common belief among writers that their work could translate well to the big screen, but, with some necessary and natural changes (when writing the book my goal was to ensure that the reader remained entertained/engaged/surprised, and I think that is equally important in movies, but the methods to achieve it are, obviously, very different), I honestly think this is the case because: it´s fast paced, the main characters face moral dilemmas throughout the book and keep evolving psychologically, other characters are also interesting and multidimensional, there´s conflict, and a surprise ending at different levels; also, it meets a lot of the requirements that, according to what I´ve researched, are valued in the movie industry. Your work on the “All to Well” short film and your music videos is very good. I don´t exactly what or if you would like to do something movie related anytime “soon” (I used quotation marks because the book project and all the development of the movie project would take a substantial amount of time, considering specially how long it, sometimes, takes to develop a good movie; there are ways to speed things up, but it always takes some time) and I´m aware that, if you do, there will be other very interesting projects being offered to you, but this is a special and rare type of story. This happens because of the humanitarian aspects of the narrative, but also because an “inspirational human element” is present, not only in how the characters behave and interact but also in the fact that their actions represent something bigger and those actions are something that every good human being can identify with and aspire to do (some of the most highly regarded movies of the last 20/30 years have these elements).
This project could also be financially very good for you, because you would get a big advance if you decide to publish the book in your name; I think the book would sell very well in countries like the United States and would be translated in other languages, and the movie, although depending on how you wanna be involved on that project, can be very profitable. Regarding this financial side of things I´m proposing that we split (50%-50%) the revenue from the book advance, book sales, movie adaptation rights, etc (meaning everything directly related to the book). Regarding the movie, I propose is that you to receive all the revenue directly related to your work. As an example, imagine that you want to act in or direct the movie (if you don´t want to do something that it´s so time consuming there are other ways you could be involved and make this project interesting to you, both artistically and economically) the money the studio would pay you for your work would be all yours, but we would share (70% to you – 30% to me) revenue that is “recurrent”. So, if we could negotiate a percentage of the box office, streaming revenue, dvd sales, merchandising, soundtrack, etc (meaning everything that generates recurrent income) we would share that revenue. This type of revenue can improve financial results. The reason why I propose this shared revenue is because my work can add value in terms of improving the movie/marketing in order to achieve better results (considering the quality of the movie, but also the financial results). Creating an (excellent) movie is an immense undertaking and I´ve invested a lot of time understanding why so many movies don´t have the quality/results we would expect, even when ample “resources” (I´m not referring just to the budget) are available to the project, so I can give a important contribution to avoid that type of situation (people criticize and talk about what should have been done after the movie is done, but everybody can do that, what´s difficult is to address these issues before and when the movie it´s actually being done, so an external opinion can be important). There are, also given the nature of the story, other elements that we can add to make the movie a lot more meaningful and beautiful than others. I´m willing to think about other offers in terms of the shared revenue of the movie, but please consider that I´ve worked very hard and for a long time on this project and also, and this is the most important reason, that I need money so that I can devote my life to helping people who are living in very difficult conditions (in the second part of this post, I talk about two projects that I think can really help people, but they require substantial financial resources in the long term). I know that, financially, you are probably offered projects that allow for a more immediate return for the time and effort you invest, but we all know of projects that start off not being seen as having the same potential as others and end up being huge (and if you read the book it´s easy to understand the potential). This project is adequate to your brand (mostly because it combines inspiring storytelling and creativity with values like generosity, courage, equality; and it will have long term brand benefits, also because doing something that discusses creating a better world is good for a brand), and you would have a lot of creative control. I know that you are already someone who is very busy, and that will continue to happen, just considering how hard it is to write good music, but I think this would allow you to have more flexibility (then other similar projects) in terms of what you want to do, but also when you want to do it. I´m assuming that the movie gets made, which, I know, can sound like a big assumption, so I would like to say that regarding the book I´m pretty sure that the advance and the book sales will be very good because of the story, but, of course, also your brand (on this I would like to add that it´s possible to do a great promotional campaign of the book without you having to invest a lot of time in it; I can share ideas if you're interested, although I don´t think it´s necessary, because you and your team are creatively very good; I´m not saying this to be polite – I could just not mention it – but as someone who has some marketing knowledge, I believe that the work that is being done developing your brand is very good). Considering the movie, I think you being involved in the project will increase the chances of the movie getting the support needed (also because of the book´s success in terms of sales). I´m writing so much about the movie because I think it would be very important for it to happen, not only because the story and the values behind it would reach a different type of audience (the book can reach a lot of people – and the success of the book will certainly help the movie in every way – but movies can impact different people and in a different way), but also because I think it would be immensely important to have a successful example of art that talks about issues that can help the world. I´m not someone who thinks that all art should have some profound meaning, but if some of it does have that, it can certainly be helpful in itself, and also serve as inspiration for others to create art contributing to a better world. There are good people working hard to try and create positive change regarding so many different issues that need to improve in order for everyone to have a better life, but, in most cases, the effectiveness of what they are doing is limited, and art has the potential to help overcome some of those limitations (I feel very strongly about this, and I can talk to you about these issues if you want), and good movies can be more memorable than other art forms.
The only drawback would be that you would have to pay for the translation of the book (I´ve been dealing with several health issues in the last few years; because of that I couldn´t get a paycheck and I spent a lot of my savings) in advance, that is, before you read the hole book (you can read/talk about the resume and chapters of the book I´ve translated; the payment would be made directly to the translator, and it would cost about 30.000$; from my research I concluded that it can even cost less, but I guess it can also cost a bit more depending on the translator we choose). If you decide to pay for the translation we sign a ghostwriting agreement; the agreement makes sure you have exclusivity until you read the translation and decide if you want to go ahead with this project or not (I don’t know any translators personally, but I know a few people who know professional translators, so we can probably find a competent translator who can do the work needed without taking too much time. This also depends on their other work commitments, and translating a book always takes a while, but I believe that, as with so many other things, it’s always possible to find a good solution quickly).
What will I do with the money that I would get from the book/movie project, and why I think it´s so important for it to happen (I want to say, so there's no concern if this might pose any risk to your brand, that I would do these projects myself; if, after they are successful and prove to be adequate to your brand, you want to be involved that would be amazing):
To start raising the level of awareness/donations/compassion that can help people living in difficult conditions, there are two main areas where I believe my work can be useful. I have some marketing knowledge, and I´ve been trying to help Non Governmental Organizations improve their marketing and communication strategies, so they can receive more donations and help more people. I talked to some Portuguese NGOs, but I don´t think I could convince them to make the changes that would have a bigger impact on the donations they receive (mostly because they have very strict cost saving policy – in most cases, this is good policy for this type of organization, but it´s also important to understand that a small investment can have a huge return in terms of donations in the future – but also for other reasons: I assumed that the people I was talking to had some kind of marketing background, which didn´t happen – and, although this doens´t always happen, I know of other organizations where this happens and this is one of the reasons why I think NGOs need help and can improve – so the list of ideas I proposed was not fully understood; I didn´t talk enough about how change should be incremental and tested, rather than abrupt or radical – something that, usually, is also obvious to people who work in marketing/branding of successful organizations; but still, these were useful learning experiences that I will take into account when working on this NGO assistance project – If you´d like to know more, I can talk to you about this project).
I subsequently pondered on what could be done to help this type of organizations and concluded that it would be more effective to have people who specialize in NGO marketing and communication give (externally and for free) advice and help with it´s implementation (ideas are important but, as you know, what and how we implement those ideas is also relevant). There are two primary areas where we could make a substantial difference: 1) By offering strategic marketing advice tailored to the unique needs of each NGO and actively assisting in the implementation of these recommendations; 2) by creating and promoting (hopefully with the help of those NGOs, but it can also be done without them) marketing campaigns that raise awareness and help those organizations receive more donations. I believe that these initiatives can contribute significantly to the effectiveness and impact of NGOs working to alleviate the challenges faced by individuals in difficult conditions.
The primary objective is to provide advisory support to larger NGOs, because their scale allows for a potentially more significant impact, but there is also the option of assisting smaller NGOs in their growth (the only condition would be that every NGO we work with has to be credible, in the sense that we know that, without any doubt, the money is really being used to help those who need it the most). I cannot guarantee that this project will have a uniformly significant impact on every NGO we work with (because it also depends on how they perceive the value of the advice that is given; with the right resources, I know what to do to increase this perceived value, but there is, for different reasons, a lot of resistance to change within organizations). Nevertheless, even if only a few NGOs adopt some of the advice (I have a lot of ideas that can improve their marketing – some of them are creativity-based, others are just tools that are already used by commercial organizations that can be, with some adjustments, used by NGOs; considering larger organizations, good marketing management is, sometimes, just about doing small but meaningful changes, and I see a lot of potential for improvement) this will mean a lot more donations/lives saved. There is not a magic pill or a silver bullet, but by doing several meaningful changes we can increase the resources that will make life better for a lot of people.
With the money from the book/movie project I would hire people to work on this. Portugal is, (in most cases) unfortunately, a low wage country, and this would help control the costs (this doesn't mean I intend to offer low wages; but, controlling costs is important because there is a lot of work to be done). This would be particularly relevant if numerous NGOs value the advice and require assistance in implementation. I would also work on this, mainly training people so they they can autonomously do the work the NGOs need and helping with the coordination. Afterwards, I would step back, and work on a bigger project (I talk about it down bellow). While I am optimistic about the potential impact of the NGO assistance project, I have also considered alternative approaches to providing this type of marketing advice if, for any reason, the initial project does not yield the anticipated results.
The project that I know can make a significant difference is one that demonstrates/get´s people thinking about the importance of good decision making/good values, especially in the long run, and what values and behaviors are crucial to live better and help others (helping those who are close to them, but also those who live in other parts of the world) by explaining in a fast, attractive, practical and science based way why values like honesty, kindness and compassion are important. If we think about it, many of the problems we face in the world today could significantly improve if people embraced better values and made wiser choices (a big part of this could be achieved by improving educational systems, but, for several reasons, this has not happened, and I don´t see it happening in the near future). My primary goal with this project is to get people to donate to/help more people (both in their community and on the other side of the world) that need help, but it will also contribute to improve people´s lives, not only considering that donating/being involved in something that helps others makes everyone feel better, but also because it will allow people to have more information and, therefore, make better decisions.
Though I´m still in the process of developing this project, I already have some very good ideas and, more importantly, I know what it takes to be more effective. There are individuals trying to do this, but their approaches does not maximize the chances of really getting people to make better choices (both for themselves and to help others). There are a lot of books, videos, courses, websites that talk about values, self-help and other similar subjects but, even when the content is valuable (and this doesn´t always happen), it´s not presented in a way that can actually have an impact on a lot of people. This happens because, sometimes, those content creators have as their priority making money fast out of this initiatives (and this limits their effectiveness), and even when that doesn´t happen, like when those resources are free or in books (which are normally a great source of knowledge), they are usually presented in a way that only people who are already interested in this topic value, and not only does this mean that their values and behaviors are typically better, but mainly that leaves out a lot of people who don´t value these resources, can´t afford them or simply don´t know that they exist. I´m aware that instilling better values is not an easy task, but I have several strategies that can be effective. We should also consider that more and more people are struggling in their day-to-day lives and are searching for ways to live better. And what better way to find meaning than helping other people and making better life choices (this is not obvious to a lot of people also because there are several “(pseudo) thinkers/schools of thought/political interests” that recommend a more selfish/competitive approach to life; they often do so because it´s easier to execute and easier to understand, but, in certain cases, also because the advice is given based on personal experience and not based on science or considering long-term effects). Change is not easy to achieve, but when you (repeatedly and in an “attractive” way) give people information about alternatives and consequences they tend to do better choices. For example, a value like honesty was, for past generations, viewed as an essential value in every situation, but recently things are changing, mostly because people want results fast and only consider short term consequences. They fail to consider the long term effects of not being honest (for all of us who have more life experience it´s usually very clear how, sooner or later, people who are dishonest end up having problems that make their life much more difficult), also how having dishonest behaviors will make people that are good (considering their values, but also how they can help us grow in our personal and professional lives) keep their distance. People are also taking a long time to understand that having honest behaviors has a positive effect on their well being and on the courage/strength that gives you when facing other challenges. These are points that nobody is really making (at least in a way that is fast, attractive and easy to understand) and that can have big, direct and indirect, benefits.
This is not an easy task and would take time, but I believe that someone has to try this, and especially try to do it in a different way (so we can have a real chance of improving).
I´ve been dealing with several health issues since 2018 and one of the side effects is extreme fatigue, which is proving to be very debilitating, even when trying to work from home – everything else is not an option right now. I´m writing about this issue say that “Zoom” (or similar) meetings would be the best way for us to talk because traveling is simply not an option for me right now (this is not only due to the fatigue but also other health-related issues; online meetings are not my favorite thing, I´m not a "gifted talker", so I don´t know if I´ll be able to fully explain the essence/idiosyncrasy of the book, and the full potential of the other humanitarian projects I´ve described, in the best way possible and quickly, but it´s the best I can do right now). Confidentiality (regarding details and content of the book) is relevant because, if you don´t want to do the book project I would have to offer it to other people (I´m very confident that you will like it, but there is always some subjectivity to what we like, and, sometimes, it even depends on our mood/circumstances at a given period of time) and the list of people who are right for this project is not long (I´m confident that the book project will be successful because of the quality of the book, but the translation issue – meaning the fact that it´s not available to read immediately – can make things more difficult), also, due to my health situation, this is probably my only shot in terms of having a project that can allow me to have the resources needed to fund the projects that will have a significative impact in helping others (I´m talking about the NGO assistance project and the values project, but I also have ideas on mental health, gender equality, homelessness that I think can have a positive impact; some of it I´ll try to do within the scope of the values project, but other ideas will require a distinct approach). I´m trying to improve my health, but we don´t know when it will happen, and I can´t wait anymore, because there are a lot of people who need help (on this I think it´s important to say that, due to several events, the situation is actually getting worse for a lot of people). On this subject I would like to add that, to execute the previously described humanitarian projects that I will work on after the book, I will hire people and that would allow me to, even if I can´t overcome my health issues, do the work needed to help a lot of people.
I would like to end by saying that, although I think the book, the NGO assistance project and the values project that would result from it, have merit on their own, they all have a common goal of achieving a (all honest organizations/experts who work on these issues talk about how crucial this is) very substantial increase in donations (to spend on food, water, vaccination, contraceptives, shelter or other cold protection, agriculture and other projects that local communities identify as relevant and NGOs can provide) to people living in extreme poverty (as I´ve mentioned, there are around 700 million people living in extreme poverty, 60% are women, the number of children who live in extreme poverty is also very high, but if it was only one, I believe we should do something about it), and this should be done by increasing the number of donors and the amount given by each donor. Large donors have been, especially in more recent years, playing a more important role (considering some of data that is divulged by bigger NGOs). This is very important to all the help that is being given, but, for several reasons, it´s important to increase the donor base, and in many developed countries it´s possible to do so immensely and without any compromise to living quality/standard of living of the people who make the donations (this increase depends on the work NGOs do to try to reach these donors, but also, and perhaps more importantly, how they treat them/get them involved in the process of helping – this is also a reason why the NGO project is important). I would also like to point out that the rise in donations, beyond its intrinsic value in saving and improving lives, could pave the way for innovative steps that have the potential to address longstanding problems that, for decades, have been making life so painful for so many people – this depends of the contribution of others, especially the NGOs that have people in these communities (it´s often overlooked how important, because they are the ones dealing with these problems everyday, the opinion of people living in these communities really is). I´ve been thinking about these issues for a long time and I believe that I can give an important contribution on this. Through this collaborative effort, we can make significant progress in economic development, life expectancy, gender equality, and conflict prevention. History has shown that remarkable achievements are possible when individuals come together for a common cause. There are several examples of things that most people said that were impossible to achieve, but were accomplished successfully, and it´s always a better alternative to try and achieve something meaningful, than not to try and wonder what would have happened if we tried.
I think it´s relevant to say that, on the book, I also talk about education (as an example, giving meals to those who go to school can be good idea for some developing countries – this and other education proposals are in the book to underline how important is education to the future) and good governance (in the book I also have a proposal to help countries understand if they can make better choices in the short term in a different way than usual), but I would like to add that the proposals to improve aid/education/healthcare/governance (if you don´t agree with these suggestions, we can change or even remove them, as I previously wrote, I have no problem with making changes, and my goal is for the book to be as good as possible, also because I believe that will allow me to help more people) that are in the book are done in a way that is appropriate for the events that take place, and in very specific moments, so they don´t distract from the storytelling, and this is relevant because only with good storytelling is possible to create that emotional bond that makes people care more about these issues.
I would love to hear your opinion about a lot of things I wrote about, but I am fully aware that you just might not have the time to do this and that is completely fine. The same applies to the book, a short online meeting would be enough for you to read the chapters I´ve translated and the book resume, and talk about a couple of relevant issues (these issues are only relevant if you decide to go ahead with the translation, and they could be talked about with someone in your team). There are one or two things regarding the written agreement that we should talk about (I know you will have people take a look a it before we sign it – I just took a common ghostwriting agreement and adapted it to the book/movie project – but still, there are a couple of things that probably should be mentioned; I really don´t like talking about stuff that is not creativity related, but my experience as shown me that it helps for the people involved in the project to openly talk about things). I promise I won´t take a lot of time with this, but I am, of course, available to answer everything you, or someone in your team, would like to ask. Even further down the line, if you decide to go ahead with this project, I´ll try my best to make sure you don´t have to spend a lot of time on it (there are always creative ways to reach goals that save time and energy while still allowing for the possibility of achieving very good results). That said, I´m also ok with the opposite, if you want to talk about some of the issues I´ve mentioned (I´m also very concerned with problems like climate change, gender inequality and mental health), I´m ok to do it because I live to try and fix those problems.
I also thought about writing something about my personal life to show you how committed I am to helping people (I'm confident that these projects will have a positive impact; my approach is to take it step by step—understanding what works and what doesn’t—while continuously improving to achieve better results; if, for any reason these projects don’t succeed, I would donate money to organizations like UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, and others), how I began thinking about this issues and why I chose this life path, but has I wrote it didn´t feel right (I´ve been thru a lot, lately mostly because of my health, and before that because of other issues, but still, in comparison to all of those I am trying to help, my problems are not relevant). I would have no problem talking about it, if you think it´s relevant (I really don´t like talking about myself, but I understand why getting to know someone better can be important in this type of project). I thought about writing about it because committing to something is important to it´s success, and I imagine that the amount of requests and projects that are offered to you is huge. I have no doubt than a lot of those requests are valid (although, I imagine, it´s impossible to attend to all of them), and that those projects have value, but, because it can help so many people, it combines art with values and issues that are important (and aren´t getting the attention they deserve) this is a special type of project (that can serve as an example to others, and if, somehow, people can unite behind the story and it´s ideals, it can even help the work I´ll be doing after the book project). I decided to do this work because more and more people are suffering everyday, and the help that is being given is important, because is saving lives, but it´s not solving the broader issues (which makes things worse, because people fell frustrated and, therefore, become less sensitive to it, and more prone to considering that these problems are insurmountable; I don’t know if you have time for TED Talks, but if you’re interested in a more accurate assessment of the situation and possibilities, I suggest that you watch the Natalie Cargill TED Talk or the Joe Cerrell TED Talk - I don’t agree with everything that is said, as I think we need a more realistic and incremental approach, but still, they allow for a better understanding of what can be achieved and past successful accomplishments). I´m also tired of just settling for less that what we can achieve to help people/seeing so much potential and missed opportunities.
I believe that the projects I wrote about before will work because, technically (considering the latest marketing and branding knowledge, best practices and other creativity-based solutions), not everything is being done to maximize the potential of increasing the help that is given to people all over the world. Also, we can save people and help them live better by assisting NGOs in enhancing their efficacy in terms of receiving more donations and, simultaneously, helping donors understand why donating more can help them lead more meaningful life and significantly help others. I know that all I´ve wrote about can seem unrealistic, overwhelming, to much to do, but, with a step-by-step approach, great things can be accomplished. I think I can give a meaningful contribution to help people, I know I can add value on the book, movie, etc (considering content quality, and the more “promotional” side of things), and I would also like to say that I´m available to help you with anything you need (I can´t imagine how, but I´m asking for your help with the book project, so it´s only fair that I offer to help you). Thank you for reading all of this. Any questions, doubts, problems, I would gladly answer.
